MLB Partners with Polymarket on Prediction Markets

Major League Baseball has entered the prediction market space, naming Polymarket as its official prediction exchange and signing an information sharing agreement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Commissioner Rob Manfred emphasized these deals aim to protect the sport's integrity as prediction markets gain popularity in the U.S., joining NHL, MLS and UFC in this emerging space.

The partnership grants Polymarket rights to use MLB marks and logos while providing the league with official data and influence over rules governing billions expected to be traded on baseball this season. Manfred and CFTC chairman Michael Selig signed a memorandum for regular meetings to discuss potential integrity threats from specific markets.

MLB will establish an integrity framework with restrictions on markets vulnerable to manipulation, such as individual pitches and umpire decisions. The deal includes language voiding the partnership if courts rule prediction markets violate state law, a relevant consideration following Arizona's criminal charges against another prediction market, Kalshi.
