The Los Angeles Angels activated center fielder Mike Trout from the injured list Wednesday, ending his 17-game absence. Trout, who strained his right hamstring on June 17, is slated to play as the designated hitter against the Texas Rangers. Angels manager Kurt Suzuki expressed caution about Trout's immediate return to the outfield but confirmed his readiness to play.

Trout's return comes just before the All-Star Game, where he was elected a starter for the American League. This marks his first All-Star appearance since 2019, having missed the event due to injuries from 2021 to 2023. He has had a strong season despite the injury, posting a .866 OPS with 17 home runs and 36 RBIs in 74 games.

To make roster space for Trout, the Angels designated infielder Donovan Walton for assignment. Trout's presence boosts the Angels' lineup as they head into the second half of the season.
