The Miami Marlins have agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with right-hander Chris Paddack, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. The deal includes up to $500,000 in performance bonuses, bringing the potential value to $4.5 million. Paddack, who turned 30 last month, will likely slot into Miami's rotation after the team traded away starters Edward Cabrera and Ryan Weathers.

Paddack's 2025 season was split between Minnesota and Detroit, where he posted a combined 5-12 record with a 5.35 ERA across 28 starts and five relief appearances. His performance varied significantly between teams - posting a 4.95 ERA with the Twins before struggling to a 6.32 ERA after being traded to the Tigers on July 28. The right-hander earned $1 million in performance bonuses during the final season of his previous three-year, $12.525 million contract.

Over seven major league seasons with San Diego, Minnesota, and Detroit, Paddack owns a 32-36 record with a 4.64 ERA in 118 appearances (110 starts). The Marlins' addition of Paddack comes as they reshape their pitching staff through trades, positioning him as a key rotation piece for the upcoming season.
