Jose Ramirez Day-to-Day After Shoulder Injury Scare

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez avoided serious injury after jamming his left shoulder during Sunday's spring training game against the Oakland Athletics. The seven-time All-Star left the contest in the fourth inning after sliding into third base, with manager Stephen Vogt calling the 33-year-old's status day-to-day.

Vogt said Ramirez experienced shoulder soreness and tightness but felt "much better" Monday. The veteran slugger did not undergo imaging, and inflammation had subsided by the following day. Ramirez was held out of Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs, though most Cleveland regulars received the day off.

Ramirez, who signed a seven-year, $175 million contract this offseason - the largest in franchise history - was 1-for-2 in Sunday's 12-6 victory before exiting. The 2024 AL MVP runner-up is a lifetime .279 hitter with 285 home runs and 949 RBIs over his 13-year career with Cleveland.
