Veteran catcher Gary Sánchez has agreed to a $1.75 million, one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to multiple reports. The New York Post first reported the deal Wednesday. Sánchez, 33, previously played for Milwaukee in 2024, batting .220 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in 89 games while backing up All-Star William Contreras.

Sánchez spent last season with the Baltimore Orioles, hitting .231 with five homers and 24 RBIs in 29 games. The two-time All-Star has a career .224 batting average with 189 homers and 509 RBIs across nine major league seasons with the Yankees, Twins, Mets, Padres, Brewers, and Orioles. He finished second in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2016.

Before this signing, Milwaukee's only catchers on the 40-man roster were Contreras and 23-year-old prospect Jeferson Quero, who hasn't appeared in a major league game. The Brewers also signed catcher Reese McGuire last month to a minor league contract. Sánchez's return provides veteran depth behind Contreras and flexibility at designated hitter for the NL Central contenders.
