The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a pitching trade with the Baltimore Orioles, acquiring right-hander Chayce McDermott in exchange for prospect Axel Perez. McDermott, 27, brings MLB experience to the Dodgers after making his debut in 2024. The 27-year-old right-hander provides depth to a Dodgers organization always seeking pitching talent.

McDermott has shown mixed results in the minors, posting a 4.38 ERA across 133 appearances with a 22-24 record. This season, he went 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in five Triple-A appearances for Norfolk. The former Astros draft pick (132nd in 2021 out of Ball State) offers potential despite his high ERA at the highest minor league level.

In return, the Orioles receive Perez, a 20-year-old Dominican Republic native who went 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in 10 Dominican Summer League games last year. Signed as an international free agent in 2024, Perez represents a lower-risk, lower-reward asset. Both teams addressed organizational needs with this straightforward pitching exchange.
