Dodgers' Graterol Out for Opening Day After Shoulder Surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol will miss the start of the 2026 season as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Wednesday that the hard-throwing right-hander won't be ready for opening day after undergoing surgery in November 2024 to repair a torn labrum.

Graterol, 27, last pitched in the 2024 World Series, appearing in three games for the champion Dodgers. His 2025 season was limited to seven relief appearances with a 2.45 ERA before shoulder inflammation and a hamstring strain landed him on the injured list. The Dodgers signed him to a $2.8 million contract in January to avoid arbitration.

Since joining the Dodgers in a 2020 trade with Minnesota that sent Kenta Maeda to the Twins, Graterol has compiled an 11-9 record with a 2.78 ERA and 11 saves over 181 career innings. His best season came in 2023 when he posted a 1.20 ERA in 67⅓ innings while setting career highs in appearances. The Dodgers will need to adjust their bullpen plans heading into the season opener without one of their key setup arms.
