Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts etched his name into the record books Tuesday night, becoming the fastest skipper in MLB history to reach 1,000 career victories. The Dodgers' 9-3 win over Oakland pushed Roberts past the milestone in just 1,606 games, besting Cap Anson's previous mark of 1,641 set in 1893.

Roberts admitted reaching this achievement seemed unfathomable when he began managing in 2016. 'One thousand didn't even seem on my radar because that's a long time of consistent winning,' he said. The milestone comes just two days after Detroit's A.J. Hinch also reached 1,000 wins, marking a rare double milestone for active managers.

Both Roberts and Hinch now sit tied for second-most wins among active managers, trailing only Cincinnati's Terry Francona who has amassed 2,072 victories. Roberts' rapid ascent reflects his consistent success with the Dodgers organization, where he's maintained a winning record throughout his tenure.

The accomplishment places Roberts among baseball's elite managerial ranks at age 49, proving that sustained excellence and longevity can coexist even in today's win-now culture.
