Chicago Cubs right-hander Cade Horton left Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians after experiencing right forearm discomfort. The 24-year-old pitcher threw just 17 pitches before being removed in the second inning, having recorded one strikeout and allowed one walk.

Horton's early exit came after throwing a 93.8 mph fastball to Bo Naylor for a called strike. Manager Craig Counsell and a trainer visited the mound to speak with Horton before he departed. This marks the second start of the season for Horton, who had won his season debut against Washington on March 28, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The injury raises concerns for the Cubs, as Horton posted an impressive 11-4 record with a 2.67 ERA last season after recovering from Tommy John surgery in 2021. The eighth overall pick in the 2022 draft missed the postseason last year due to a right rib fracture.
