Boston Red Sox secured a 9-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, but the win was marred when All‑Star Willson Contreras left the game after a pitch struck the side of his helmet.

The hard‑landing 95 mph fastball came from reliever Will Klein and landed on the helmet's side after Contreras had already hit the dirt on Klein's first pitch of the at‑bat.

Medical staff checked Contreras before he took first base, but he was removed for precautionary reasons after the Red Sox finished batting.
