The Atlanta Braves have invited veteran infielder-outfielder Dominic Smith to major league spring training as a non-roster invitee. The 30-year-old will provide depth behind starting first baseman Matt Olson and could serve as a left field or designated hitter option. Smith brings nine seasons of major league experience to the Braves' camp.

Smith spent his first six seasons with the New York Mets before playing for San Francisco, Washington, Boston and Cincinnati. Last season with the Giants, he hit .284 with five home runs and 33 RBI in 63 games. The left-handed hitter owns a .250 career batting average with 69 home runs, including a career-high 12 for the Nationals in 2023.

This move gives Atlanta additional veteran presence and positional flexibility heading into the 2026 season. Smith's ability to play both corner infield and outfield positions makes him a valuable depth piece for manager Brian Snitker's roster decisions.
