North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his right thumb during practice, the school announced. The 6-foot-10 forward had already undergone surgery and is expected to be cleared during the NBA predraft process, where he'll compete for the No. 1 pick in June's draft.

Wilson had been progressing toward a return after missing six games with a left-hand injury, but the latest setback occurred while dunking during practice. The Tar Heels have gone 5-1 without their star, who averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds this season. UNC is locked into the No. 4 seed for next week's ACC tournament.

Duke, North Carolina's opponent in Saturday's regular-season finale, has won seven straight since their Feb. 7 loss to the Tar Heels. The Blue Devils' recent victories include wins against then-No. 1 Michigan and now-No. 13 Virginia. UNC finishes the regular season at 24-6 overall and 12-5 in conference play.
