Former US Open champion Sloane Stephens and former U.S. soccer star Jozy Altidore are ending their four-year marriage. The couple announced their split through an Instagram post from Stephens, who requested privacy during this transition. Both athletes have enjoyed successful careers in their respective professional sports.

Stephens, 32, captured the 2017 US Open title and reached the 2018 French Open final. Altidore, 36, scored 42 goals across 115 appearances for the U.S. national team from 2007 to 2019. The soccer veteran also had an extensive career playing in Major League Soccer and various international leagues.

In her Instagram statement, Stephens wrote, "Jozy and I have decided to end our marriage. With peace, I am navigating this transition with mutual respect and kindly ask for privacy during this time." The request comes as both athletes continue their professional endeavors in different sports.
