Geoffrey Mason, a Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee, died Sunday at 85. The veteran production executive's career spanned five decades across ABC Sports, ESPN, NBC, and Fox, where he shaped the modern television coverage of major sporting events.

Mason won 24 Emmy Awards and was a key figure behind landmark broadcasts. He coordinated ABC's coverage of the 1972 Munich Olympics terrorist attack and worked on eight Olympic Games. His résumé also includes the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, and the Indianapolis 500.
