Duke coach Jon Scheyer fired back at Orange County District Attorney Jeff Nieman after the local prosecutor disputed Scheyer's account of a court-storming incident following Duke's loss to North Carolina. Nieman claimed there was 'zero evidence' that Duke staffers were punched or trampled during the Feb. 7 chaos at the Dean Smith Center.

Scheyer initially stated that some staff members had been 'punched in the face' as UNC fans rushed the court after Seth Trimble's game-winning 3-pointer. The Blue Devils later clarified that one staffer had been hurt when 'trampled,' appearing 'like he had been in a complete brawl.' Video showed a bottle being thrown toward Duke personnel after the game.

Nieman, a UNC graduate, said Scheyer's comments could incite violence and that powerful figures should exercise more discretion. The DA's office reviewed video evidence but found no support for the punching claims. North Carolina was fined $50,000 for the unauthorized court storming under new ACC regulations. After Monday's 101-64 victory over Syracuse, Scheyer said he 'could have said even more' but chose to focus on adding that the Blue Devils have put the UNC loss behind them.
