Alexander Rossi was taken to a hospital for evaluation after a multi-car crash in Monday's Indianapolis 500 practice. His No. 20 car spun in Turn 2, hit the wall, and was struck by Pato O'Ward and Romain Grosjean. Rossi appeared unsteady after the impact.

2016 winner Rossi's hospitalization was announced after initial reports said he was alert. O'Ward and Grosjean were checked and released from the infield care center. The crash damaged cars for Rossi, O'Ward, Grosjean, and Conor Daly, all of whom had qualified strongly.

All four teams now face a critical three-day scramble to repair cars before Sunday's sold-out race. The incident marks the first crash of the month on the oval and disrupts the front row, where Rossi will start second. The grid already shuffled due to earlier technical penalties.
