Jaden Rashada has settled his lawsuit against former Florida football coach Billy Napier and Gators booster Hugh Hathcock, according to court documents and Rashada's attorney. The quarterback sued in 2024, claiming both men defrauded him by backing out of promises for a name, image and likeness contract worth as much as $13.85 million. The lawsuit was the first of its kind in college sports' era of paid athletes.

Rashada signed last month to play for Mississippi State in the 2026 season after withdrawing his intent to play for Florida as a high school senior. He has previously played at Arizona State, Georgia, and Sacramento State. The settlement ends a case that included a former Florida staff member and Hathcock's auto dealership as defendants.

Napier was fired by Florida in October after a 3-4 start and hired as coach of James Madison in December. He was scheduled to be deposed in the case during the same week the parties reached a settlement. Rashada claimed Napier and Hathcock promised seven-figure sums during recruitment, including a $1 million signing bonus for his father hours before Rashada signed with Florida.

The recruitment occurred before schools could pay athletes directly or allow boosters to negotiate NIL contracts before enrollment.
