Hundreds of demonstrators rallied in Milan to protest the presence of U.S. ICE agents during the upcoming Winter Olympics. The protest, held in Piazza XXV Aprile, included members of the Democratic Party and trade unions. Protesters voiced concerns about the agents' involvement in security, viewing it as a symbol of creeping fascism, despite the agents' limited role.

The protest stemmed from the news that agents from a division of ICE would participate in security for the U.S. delegation. Activists expressed strong opposition, with signs referencing human rights and historical resistance against fascism. Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala has already voiced his disapproval of the deployment. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi is expected to testify about the matter.

Organizers emphasized that their opposition extended beyond the specific unit, rejecting the presence of any ICE agents. Protesters like Silvana Grassi cited concerns over past actions by ICE and the current political climate. The Olympics opening ceremony is scheduled to begin this week and will be attended by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
