Opetaia Seeks Undisputed Crown as Zuffa Boxing Debuts

Jai Opetaia is aiming to become boxing's undisputed cruiserweight king by making his debut with Zuffa Boxing this Saturday in Las Vegas against Brandon Glanton. The Australian, a 29-0 veteran with 23 KOs, holds both the IBF and Ring world titles and has been frustrated by failed attempts to unify the division against Gilberto Ramirez (WBA/WBO) and Noel Mikaelian (WBC). His move to Zuffa Boxing, the new venture from Dana White and Turki Al-Sheikh, is seen as a strategic step to unlock the unification fights he craves. "These fights have to happen," Opetaia states, confident Zuffa can secure the WBC strap and force the WBA/WBO matchups.

His debut comes three months after a dominant eighth-round stoppage win over Huseyin Cinkara, though the German's neck fracture highlighted the sport's dangers. Glanton, a 33-year-old Atlanta native with a 21-3 record, offers a tough test for the Australian favorite. A win could propel Opetaia towards his goal of becoming the undisputed champion, a status he believes is essential for his legacy. "I feel like once there's one more fight to be made to become undisputed, whether it's me or them, I feel like it has to happen," he asserts.
