Vice-captain Caroline O'Hanlon stated that "not many outside of our camp expected us to qualify" after their emphatic 73-50 victory over Republic of Ireland. However, automatic qualification depended on other results.

Scotland's narrow win over Wales ultimately booked both teams' spots, eliminating the ninth-ranked Wales. O'Hanlon, who previously captained the side to a 10th-place finish at the last World Cup, noted the team's shift in mindset. The 42-year-old emphasized that the squad will now head to Sydney aiming to compete for results rather than simply gaining experience.

She described the atmosphere as a "real rollercoaster of a day," particularly while watching Scotland's match from the stands. O'Hanlon highlighted that Sydney is the home of netball and the centre of the best league in the world, calling it a brilliant spectacle. The group will enter the tournament not just to learn, but to actually go on and compete and try to win games.
