The $73.2 million the Rams will pay Garrett over the next two seasons represents a massive financial commitment compared to the $5 million Cleveland will pay Verse over the same span.

While this trade boosts the Rams' immediate championship odds, it creates future concerns. Cleveland acquires cost-controlled assets for their next contending window when they find a quarterback. The Rams' questionable selection of Ty Simpson at No. 13 looks even more questionable after trading away premium draft capital for a short-term rental. The Browns will reap the benefits while Los Angeles pays the price.
