AMES, Iowa -- Nate Heise hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and Tamin Lipsey grabbed a critical offensive rebound in the final seconds to cap No. 6 Iowa State's rally in a 70-67 victory over Big 12 leader and second-ranked Houston on Monday night. The Cyclones closed with a 17-4 run to defeat a second top-10 team in three days after beating No. 8 Kansas on Saturday.

Heise, who was 3-for-3 from 3-point range, made the winning shot with 1:17 remaining after his sister Taylor Heise scored to help the U.S. women's hockey team beat Sweden 5-0 at the Milan Cortina Olympics earlier in the day. Houston had two chances to tie or take the lead but committed a shot clock violation with 43 seconds left and Chris Cenac Jr. missed a potential game-tying shot with four seconds remaining.

Joshua Jefferson led Iowa State with 12 points while Blake Buchanan added 10. Kingston Flemings topped Houston with 22 points. The victory keeps Iowa State third in the Big 12 standings, a game behind Houston, as both teams prepare for crucial matchups ahead in conference play.
