Marcel Hug of Switzerland claimed his ninth Boston Marathon men's wheelchair title on Monday, finishing in an unofficial time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, 6 seconds. The Swiss star missed breaking his own course record by just 33 seconds while securing his fourth consecutive victory in Boston, establishing himself as one of the most dominant wheelchair racers in the event's history.

Hug's latest victory moves him into second place all-time in Boston men's wheelchair history, trailing only South African legend Ernst van Dyk's record 10 titles between 2001 and 2014. American Daniel Romanchuk finished second in 1:22:44, followed by Jetze Plat of the Netherlands in 1:24:13. Hug built a 13-second advantage over Britain's David Weir by mile three, extending that margin to 55 seconds at the halfway point.

Since winning the Berlin Marathon in 2022, Hug has lost only one of seven world major titles, finishing second at the New York Marathon in 2024. The 130th edition of the world's oldest annual marathon took place on a clear morning with starting temperatures in the low 40s.
