LIV Golf vows to complete 2026 season amid funding doubts

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil told TNT Sports on Thursday that the league will complete the 2026 schedule despite recent funding rumblings. He said the organization remains “funded through the season” and is working on a business plan to sustain operations. O'Neil referenced a memo sent to staff promising a “full throttle” finish with eight tournaments left, including five in the United States to finish the season on schedule.

Financial Times reporting earlier this week suggested Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has poured $5 billion into the venture since its 2022 debut, was poised to pull back. O'Neil countered that prize pools of $30 million per event and rising ticket and sponsorship sales keep the model viable, projecting ten of thirteen teams and four of fourteen stops will turn a profit.

Even star player Jon Rahm shrugged off the uncertainty, saying he trusted internal league communication and felt no need to worry. Louisiana officials have pressed for a decision on the June 25‑28 New Orleans stop, but O'Neil’s assurances and the projected profitability suggest the circuit will press on, delivering the remaining tournaments as scheduled.
