Lindsey Vonn has not yet decided whether she will return to competitive skiing after a devastating crash at the Milan Cortina Olympics. The 41-year-old alpine ski racer suffered a complex tibia fracture in her left leg during the downhill event on February 8, forcing her to confront serious questions about her future in the sport.

Vonn, who had been experiencing a career resurgence, won two downhill races this season and earned multiple podium finishes before the crash. She had previously returned from retirement after nearly six years away, thanks to a partial titanium implant in her right knee. The crash also damaged her left ACL, compounding her injury woes.

In a social media post, Vonn made clear she's not ready to discuss retirement, writing that she doesn't need permission to make her own decisions. She's been documenting her recovery on social media, recently posting about riding a stationary bike for five minutes. Dr. Tom Hackett performed a fasciotomy that saved her leg from compartment syndrome. Vonn emphasized she's focused on recovery and returning to normal life, having already enjoyed six years of retirement with an amazing life outside of skiing.
