Kelsey Plum Injury Sidelines Sparks Star Four Weeks

Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum will miss at least four weeks after suffering a lower left leg injury. The team announced Thursday that Plum, who had her leg heavily wrapped during Sunday's game in Toronto, will undergo reevaluation in four weeks to determine her return timeline.

Plum's injury history complicates matters for the Sparks. The 31-year-old missed time in May with a right ankle injury and now faces additional time on the sideline. Despite these setbacks, the former 2022 WNBA MVP has maintained strong production this season. Her absence creates a significant void in Los Angeles' backcourt rotation during a crucial stretch.

Before the injury, Plum delivered one of the season's most remarkable performances on June 14, dropping 43 points against the Phoenix Mercury. In a historic duel, Mercury's Kahleah Copper scored 41 points, marking the first instance of opposing players reaching 40-plus points in a single WNBA game, including playoffs. Both performances established new career highs.

The Sparks now face a difficult stretch without their leading scorer, potentially reshaping their playoff positioning in a competitive Western Conference race.
