The Utah Jazz are acquiring Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies in a significant trade. Memphis will receive three first-round draft picks, along with rookie guard Walter Clayton Jr., and forwards Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, and Georges Niang. The Jazz will also gain Jock Landale, John Konchar, and Vince Williams Jr. in this major deal.

This trade signals the Jazz's intent to compete next season, following a rebuilding phase. Jackson, a two-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year, signed a contract extension last summer. He's expected to complement the Jazz's core, including Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, and Walker Kessler. Markkanen could now form a strong frontcourt duo with Jackson.

Jackson averaged 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 45 games for the Grizzlies. This move marks a major step in the Grizzlies' rebuilding process. Memphis is also reportedly shopping Ja Morant. With this trade, the Grizzlies now hold 12 first-round picks over the next seven seasons, setting them up for a future roster overhaul.

The deal gives Memphis a $28.8 million trade exception, the largest in NBA history. This allows the team flexibility as they reshape their roster. The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, so expect more moves as teams look to improve their chances for the playoffs or begin their own rebuilding processes.
