Boxing's most anticipated matchup of 2026 has been officially confirmed as Naoya Inoue will defend his undisputed junior featherweight championship against Junto Nakatani at Tokyo Dome on May 2. The All-Japan showdown was formally announced at a news conference in Japan and will air live on Lemino pay-per-view.

Inoue, ranked No. 2 on ESPN's pound-for-pound list, enters the fight with a perfect 32-0 record and 27 knockouts. The Japanese superstar had a dominant 2025, winning four fights including victories over Kim Ye-Joon, Ramon Cardenas, Murodjon Akhmadaliev, and David Picasso. Nakatani, ranked No. 6 on ESPN's pound-for-pound rankings, will attempt to become a four-division champion after holding world titles at bantamweight, junior bantamweight, and flyweight.

The fight has been years in the making, with both fighters maintaining perfect records and establishing themselves as Japan's premier boxers. Their paths finally converged after Inoue's December win over Picasso saw Nakatani in the co-main event against Sebastian Hernandez. The undercard will feature Takuma Inoue defending his WBC bantamweight title against former four-division champion Kazuto Ioka.
