Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg explained his altercation with an Iowa fan by citing his reliance on a pacemaker. The incident occurred during the handshake line after Nebraska's 57-52 loss to the Hawkeyes on Wednesday night.

Hoiberg said he accidentally struck an Iowa staff member while swiping at a fan pointing a camera at him. He emphasized that close contact with cellphones can interfere with his pacemaker, potentially causing fatal consequences. "I am 100% reliant on a pacemaker," Hoiberg stated, noting his heightened awareness of the risk.

While Hoiberg apologized to the Iowa staff member, who was understanding of the situation, Iowa released a statement acknowledging the incident and promising to review security protocols. The seventh-year Nebraska coach said he appreciates the Hawkeyes' response and views it as a learning opportunity. Nebraska hosts Penn State on Saturday.
