Georgia safety Ja'Marley Riddle was arrested May 8 on felony drug charges and a misdemeanor speeding violation following a traffic stop on I-95. Police detected marijuana odor from his vehicle and discovered THC vapes and a large bag of marijuana during a consent search. Riddle posted bond on all charges and transferred to Georgia after two seasons at East Carolina.

The undercover detective observed Riddle's red Dodge Durango weaving through traffic at high speeds, with the vehicle still gaining distance while traveling around 95 mph. Officers noted Riddle appeared extremely nervous and shaking during the stop. The investigation revealed multiple packages containing marijuana and vaping products labeled with THC.

Riddle transferred to Georgia after compiling 133 tackles, 10 passes defensed, and six interceptions over two seasons at East Carolina, including one interception returned for a touchdown. The university acknowledged the charges through a spokesman but declined further comment due to the ongoing legal matter.

The arrest represents a significant off-field concern for Georgia's defensive backfield, particularly given Riddle's prominent role in the secondary. His playing time and future with the program now face immediate uncertainty pending legal proceedings.
