Georgia coach Kirby Smart secured his first regular-season win against Alabama, leading the No. 2 Bulldogs to a 20-17 victory in Tuscaloosa. The team rallied from a halftime deficit to snap a five-game regular-season losing streak to their SEC rival. Smart, who previously served as Alabama's defensive coordinator under Nick Saban, expressed deep respect for the Tide but emphasized the significance of winning at Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time since 2007.
The game was marked by physical play and critical moments, including a late field goal and a defensive stand that sealed the win. Georgia's offense, led by quarterback Gunner Stockton, managed to sustain drives when it mattered most, while the defense forced key turnovers and stops. The victory likely propels Georgia to the top of the polls following Texas's loss to Oklahoma.
