LIVIGNO, Italy -- Norway's Tormod Frostad claimed gold in men's big air freeskiing at the Milan Cortina Olympics, edging out American Mac Forehand in a dramatic final jump. The 23-year-old Frostad held the lead through most of the 12-man final before Forehand's second-to-last jump threatened his victory.

Frostad responded with a flawlessly executed final run, scoring 195.50 points to Forehand's 193.25. Austria's Matej Svancer took bronze with 191.25. The competition saw defending champion Birk Ruud of Norway finish eighth after crashing twice, despite winning slopestyle gold just days earlier.

The silver medal marks only the second U.S. podium in freeski and snowboarding park events, following Chloe Kim's halfpipe silver. The final faced a 15-minute delay due to snow flurries, with a daytime snowstorm pushing the women's slopestyle final to Wednesday.
