Roger Federer will headline a special exhibition at the US Open, returning to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the first time since 2019. Scheduled for Aug. 25 in New York, the event—titled “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York”—will feature former champions Andy Roddick, John McEnroe and Andre Agassi.

The USTA confirmed the lineup Monday, noting that Federer, the only player to win five consecutive US Open titles, will use the match to celebrate his recent induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The ceremony follows on Aug. 29 in Newport, Rhode Island, a week after the exhibition.

Federer expressed enthusiasm, saying, “So many unforgettable moments of my career happened in New York, and Arthur Ashe Stadium is a place that means a great deal to me. I’ve missed being part of that atmosphere and feeling the incredible energy that the fans bring every year.”

The USTA hinted at future announcements for the event’s full lineup, which will run during the week before singles play begins. Fans can look forward to a nostalgic showcase that bridges Federer’s legendary career with the current Grand Slam atmosphere.
