Faldo Criticizes DeChambeau's Links Strategy Ahead of The Open

Nick Faldo has accused Bryson DeChambeau of having "zero clue of strategy" for links golf ahead of The Open at Royal Birkdale. The three-time Open winner told Sky Sports that DeChambeau's aggressive approach is ill-suited for links courses, where players must "thread it" and "feed it down the fairway" rather than attack.

DeChambeau arrives after three straight missed cuts in majors in 2026. Last year at Royal Portrush, he declared "driver would be key" but shot a first-round 78 before finishing 10th. Faldo emphasized the fairways are only 20 yards wide, requiring conservative play to find the short grass.

DeChambeau remains confident with a brand-new set of 3D-printed irons that take about an hour to print. Despite major struggles, he has two wins on LIV this year and three top-three finishes. "This is a tough golf course; I like it," DeChambeau said. "If I feel good I know I can give myself a chance."
