Denmark’s national team doctor confirmed that 34‑year‑old Christian Eriksen will leave hospital “soon” after collapsing in the 65th minute of a friendly against Ukraine on Sunday. Eriksen clutched his chest, fell unconscious briefly, then regained consciousness, prompting officials to abandon the match. The match, a warm‑up for qualifiers, ended with players shaking hands.

Team doctor Morten Boesen posted an update on the Danish FA’s social channels, noting Eriksen was “with family and in good spirits.” He added the federation remains in regular contact with players and staff. Eriksen’s recovery follows the implantation of an implantable cardioverter‑defibrillator, a device that has allowed him to resume professional football with Brentford after his Inter Milan exit.

Denmark and Ukraine, both already eliminated from this summer’s World Cup, could not finish the game, leaving the friendly without a result. Eriksen’s imminent discharge means he can rejoin training under coach Brian Riemer, who praised the midfielder’s composure after the incident. The midfielder’s health remains the priority for the Danish squad for the upcoming season.
