Devin Booker is swapping his iconic No. 1 for No. 15, honoring his USA Basketball tenure and his father Melvin’s college number, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The Phoenix Suns star wore No. 1 since being drafted 13th in 2015 but grew up sporting No. 2 at Moss Point High (retired in 2022) and with the Alabama Challenge. Melvin, a Missouri standout, wore No. 15 during his college career but never used it in the NBA.

Booker’s new number also nods to his Tokyo and Paris Olympics gold medals, where he represented Team USA in 15. The Suns’ move follows Mark Williams’ use of No. 15 last season, though the center remains a restricted free agent.
