Duke guard Caleb Foster remains a game-time decision for Friday's NCAA tournament Sweet 16 matchup against St. John's, coach Jon Scheyer confirmed Thursday. The 6-foot-5 junior has missed the past five games after suffering a foot fracture against North Carolina earlier this month. Foster was the starting point guard, averaging 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists this season, shooting 40.2% from three-point range.

He was a key catalyst in Duke's wins over Arkansas, Louisville, and Michigan. Without Foster, Scheyer will start freshman Cayden Boozer, the five-star twin brother of Duke's top prospect Cameron Boozer. Boozer has stepped up, averaging 13.8 points and 3.2 assists in Foster's absence, including 19 points and five assists in the team's first-round win over Siena.

Sophomore center Pat Ngongba is also expected to play against St. John's (30-6), Scheyer said. Ngongba missed five games with a foot injury but returned for the TCU win, averaging 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds this season. The outcome hinges on Foster's availability and the effectiveness of Boozer's transition to the starting backcourt.
