Azura Stevens returns to Sky lineup for Lynx matchup

Chicago Sky forward Azura Stevens will make her season debut Saturday against the Minnesota Lynx, ending a five-game absence caused by a bone bruise in her left knee. The 6-foot-6 UConn product averaged 12.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals with the Sparks last season, finishing second in Most Improved Player voting before signing a three-year deal with the Sky.

Stevens' return comes at a critical moment for Chicago, which lost star Rickea Jackson to an ACL tear just days ago. The Sky are also still without free agent additions DiJonai Carrington (foot) and franchise legend Courtney Vandersloot (ACL). Chicago opened the season 3-2, beating the Lynx 86-79 on Sunday, but the roster has taken significant hits.

The Sky revamped their roster with Skylar Diggins, Natasha Cloud, Jacy Sheldon, and Gabriela Jaquez this offseason. Stevens' presence should give the backcourt more room to operate, though the team will need her to regain rhythm quickly with key pieces still sidelined.
