Augusta National Objects to Day's Masters Outfits

Jason Day is again drawing the attention of Augusta National officials with his bold outfit choices at this week's Masters tournament. The Australian former world No. 1, who joined Malbon Golf in early 2024 after leaving Nike, has reportedly been asked to make alterations to his attire after the company made public his Masters wardrobe plans.

Day sported the first of Malbon Golf's "Birds of Georgia" collection on Monday, featuring a uniquely busy bird-themed top. The company originally planned matching pants, but Augusta National nixed that idea and requested solid-colored pants instead. Other tops planned for the week include a birdwatcher-themed vest, continuing the nature-inspired collection.

Malbon Golf's collection features various Georgia birds including scarlet tanagers, orioles, and blue jays. Founder Stephen Malbon told Sports Illustrated the designs are "inspired by Native American beliefs" and that he's been sending bird sounds to Day for the last six months. This isn't the first time Day has faced dress code issues at Augusta, having been asked to remove a loud vest during last year's tournament.

Day, who finished runner-up in his Masters debut in 2011, will make his 15th start at Augusta National this week. His colorful outfits continue to spark conversation at the traditionally conservative tournament, with Malbon Golf clearly embracing the attention that comes with dressing the former world No. 1.
