Texas quarterback Arch Manning has embraced a new level of ownership for the team after a challenging first year as a starter. Despite early season struggles and the immense pressure of his family legacy, Manning learned to use adversity as a catalyst. Coach Steve Sarkisian observed that it took "failure" and "adversity" for Manning to truly step into his role as the team's leader. This mental toughness earned him deeper respect from his teammates, who now feel it is "his team."

Manning also focused on improving his game and team chemistry during the offseason, organizing workouts with receivers and transfer running back Hollywood Smothers in New Orleans. He acknowledged past struggles, particularly in short-yardage throws, but believes improvements in the receiver room and the utilization of new backs will enhance the offense. Manning's late-season performance, with 14 touchdown passes to just two interceptions in his last six games, demonstrated his growth and confidence.
