"When I'm talking to a high school junior, the last time Auburn had a winning season, the kid was in sixth grade," Golesh stated at SEC media days, highlighting that Auburn hasn't had at least seven wins since 2019. He is the school's fourth head coach since then, feeling pressure to achieve results sooner than his previous tenure at USF.

Golesh's strategy involves intense recruiting efforts, bringing prospects to campus to showcase the program's energy and its historical legacy. He aims to recapture the status Auburn held as a top-5 program for an extended period. He also sees an opportunity to gain ground in recruiting, especially within their home state, by capitalizing on the departure of Nick Saban from rival Alabama.
