Alabama secured a significant commitment Friday with four-star quarterback Kingston Preyear pledging to the Crimson Tide's 2028 recruiting class. Preyear, the No. 3 pocket passer nationally and No. 39 overall recruit in the SC Next Junior 300, chose Alabama over finalists Florida and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound signal-caller from Alexander City, Alabama, is the highest-rated prospect in the Crimson Tide's nascent 2028 class. Preyear threw for 3,026 yards and 34 touchdowns at Benjamin Russell High School last season. He cited the "professional nature" of Alabama's quarterback room and the development plans presented by offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and quarterbacks coach Bryan Ellis as key factors in his decision.

Preyear's commitment adds to a deep quarterback pipeline at Alabama, which already has multiple commitments in the 2026 and 2027 classes. With current quarterbacks Austin Mack and Keelon Russell competing for the starting job in 2026, Preyear represents a long-term investment for coach Kalen DeBoer as the program aims to sustain its recruiting success.
