NHL Draft Activity and Player Movement

The NHL draft is heating up with significant player movement. The Washington Capitals acquired veteran forward Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues, sending prospect Connor McMichael, Milton Gastrin, and the No. 16 overall pick in Friday's draft in exchange. In another deal, the Ottawa Senators landed forward William Eklund and prospects Kasper Halttunen and Brandon Svoboda from the San Jose Sharks, parting with the No. 9 overall selection and rights to Brandon Svoboda. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils traded the rights to defenseman Simon Nemec and winger Maxim Tsyplakov to the Calgary Flames for two first-round picks and a second-round selection.

PWHL and Coaching Developments

The Professional Women's Hockey League is seeing talent additions as the Montreal Victoire, fresh off a Walter Cup championship, have signed Canadian Olympian Emma Maltais to a two-year contract. On the coaching front, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman stated that while there are no grounds to prevent the Edmonton Oilers from hiring Mike Babcock, the veteran coach is expected to maintain a "certain level of decorum" in his new role Bettman addressed expectations for Babcock.
