Postseason Matchups
The Guardians rolled to victory in the ALCS opener over Tampa Bay, and Cleveland will now send Tampa Bay area native Parker Messick to the mound for Game 2 against the Rays.
NLCS and the Dodgers
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said he had a productive conversation with Shohei Ohtani and expects him in the Game 3 lineup, while a source indicated the club's final call on Ohtani's status depends on how his lingering injuries respond. Milwaukee, meanwhile, showed it can beat anyone, including the Dodgers, as it prepares for the NLCS rematch.
Front Offices and Rule Changes
The Seattle Mariners received permission to interview Houston Astros bench coach Joe Espada for their managerial opening. Separately, batters have enjoyed more success with robot umpire challenges in the playoffs than in the regular season, as teams use the ABS system more frequently.
