Spring Training & Roster News
The Texas Rangers confirmed that veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who delivered a career-best 1.73 ERA across 22 starts in the 2025 campaign, will take the mound as the team's Opening Day starter once again. Separately, spring training action saw the San Francisco Giants flirt with perfection against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday; the Giants were just one out from completing a perfect game and one strike away from a no-hitter before the bid was ultimately broken up late in the contest, concurrently raising concerns over an ailing Birdsong.
Labor & Future Planning
Discussions around player participation in international events face potential headwinds, as the MLB Players Association warned that any future work stoppage during the 2027 regular season could jeopardize the current framework designed to allow big league players to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, casting doubt on long-term roster commitments for global tournaments due to labor uncertainty.
