National League Struggles & Roster Moves
The New York Mets called up outfielder Tommy Pham Monday seeking immediate offense as the club battles a five-game losing streak, compounded by the absence of the injured Juan Soto. This personnel shift occurred as the San Diego Padres suffered a setback on Sunday when right-hander Nick Pivetta exited their 7-2 victory against Colorado in the fourth inning due to stiffness in his pitching elbow. Meanwhile, the pitching woes continued in the American League, as Houston starter Cody Bolton departed the Astros' 6-1 defeat to the Mariners in the second inning after reporting mid-back tightness, illustrating a difficult stretch for several contenders dealing with pitching attrition.
