Cloudflare has launched Web Search API in beta, enabling AI agents and applications to search the Internet and ground responses in live information rather than relying on training cutoffs. At launch, three providers are available: Ceramic.ai, Exa, and Linkup. All support Zero Data Retention when requests go through Cloudflare and comply with verified bot crawling standards.
Search requests route through AI Gateway, appearing in gateway logs and billing to AI Gateway credits at each provider's list API price with no markup. Users can also bring their own provider API key. The API is accessible via REST calls or from a Worker with the AI binding, with examples provided for querying topics like fall activities in Salt Lake City.
