MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its first 2nm chipset and the first to use Arm’s next-gen CPU and GPU designs. The CPU features 2x Arm C2-Ultra + 3x C2-Pro + 3x C2-Pro cores, promising 17% higher single-core performance and 37% better efficiency. Multi-threaded performance gains 15% with 61% improved efficiency. The Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU supports 185+ fps gaming, with 27% higher peak performance, 18% faster ray tracing, and 24% better power efficiency. The NPU 1090 doubles INT4 performance over the NPU 990, with 55% better token generation per watt and 51% faster pre-fill. It supports LPDDR5X and LPDDR6 RAM, UFS 5.0 storage, 200MP sensors, 8K60 video recording, and VVC (H.266) decoding. The first smartphone with the Dimensity 9600 Pro has already been announced, with more to come.

MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro marks a significant leap in mobile chip design, moving from 3nm to 2nm process technology. The chipset features 16MB of L3 cache and 10MB of SoC cache, with a neural graphics rendering engine enabling better super resolution quality. The ISP can tap directly into the NPU for photo and video processing.

The comparison table shows the Dimensity 9600 Pro upgrades from the Dimensity 9500 across all major specifications, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.2, and improved GNSS support. MediaTek has not yet confirmed whether a vanilla Dimensity 9600 variant is in development.
