The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a right hip impingement, a lingering injury affecting the All-Star for much of the season. It marks Buxton's third stint on the injured list this season for hip issues. The move came before Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox, with the Twins calling up outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez from Triple-A St. Paul.

Manager Derek Shelton said the plan is to work for Buxton to return this year, noting surgery could be an option per general manager Jeremy Zoll. Buxton has been held out of the past three games after aggravating the injury chasing a ball against the Athletics. Shelton said it hasn't felt better and they are monitoring day to day.

The three-time All-Star has hit .254 with 25 home runs and 46 RBIs in 93 games this season. Gonzalez, 22, is up for the second time this season after making his MLB debut May 22. He has hit .254 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs in 106 games for St. Paul.

Top prospect Walker Jenkins, 21, was also called up earlier this week and is ranked 12th overall on ESPN's top 100 MLB prospect rankings for 2026.
