Apple is rolling out a big update to Final Cut Camera today, the pro video app it first released for iPhone back in 2024. The update introduces a new design along with support for variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro.

For those unfamiliar, Apple touts Final Cut Camera as a way to “record professional videos with full control of your footage and connect to Final Cut Pro for iPad to capture multiple angles at once with Live Multicam.” Apple announced the app in May 2024 and released it a month later.

Final Cut Camera version 2.4 is rolling out today with multiple key changes. First, it introduces a new, more customizable design with easier access to different settings. The update also adds support for iPhone 18 Pro’s variable aperture, from f/1.48 to f/4, including shutter priority, aperture priority, and manual modes. It also supports Cinematic mode effects on iPhone 18 Pro, including video shot in ProRes and Apple Log.

With iPhone 18 Pro, users can take advantage of the new Fusion Main camera with variable aperture — the most advanced camera Apple has ever made — which brings aperture control to iPhone for the first time. Final Cut Camera allows creators to precisely dial in their aperture settings, or choose between shutter priority and aperture priority modes, to record stunning videos. The update also unlocks Cinematic mode effects for regular video, including footage captured in ProRes and Apple Log, allowing creators to adjust focus points and depth of field while editing in Final Cut Pro.
